The International Air Transport Association, “IATA”, is the official trade organisation representing
over 290 Airlines and 85 Nations, who formalise the functioning of the Air transport sector.
They are actively involved in the promotion of safer Air travel, the classification of dangerous
goods and their safe keeping when transported by Air.
Their regulations are adopted by most of the reputable Airlines and are in turn incorporated into their
own travel policies. Due to recent changes in policy around the various types of batteries powering
Mobility Scooters, a new set of guidelines on this subject has recently been released.
To familiarise yourself with these guidelines prior to travelling please following the attached “IATA” Link below.
Our manufacturer has clearly labelled the underneath of the battery to conform with the “IATA” requirements
and our standard 278Wh Lithium-ion Battery also incorporates a separate fuse and cover which allows for its
easy removal as a safety feature, prior to either storing the unit on the plane, or within the Cabin.
Due to the fact that Air New Zealand is a favourite carrier for New Zealanders, we have provided a link to
their guidelines for travelling with Mobility Scooters, as well as their policy in regards to travelling
with Lithium-ion Batteries.
It is recommended that when you are booking your holiday to ask your Travel Agent to make enquires on your
behalf with the Airline you intend to travel with, to verify their requirements at the check in stage.
To ensure a seamless transition when travelling by Air, please ensure you carry a copy of our
"UN38.3 Certification" with you. This can be downloaded on the Link below.
